Thirteen years seems about right...
The plan was to publish Sins of the Past in October of 2022 (see blog from Sept 2022). I thought it would be easy. I was SO close to having everything ready. My sabbatical was coming to a close, I only had a few hours left of editing. The cover was set. The website and blog was done. I knew I'd need a day or two to figure out how to upload the manuscript on KDP (Amazon's publishing), but I was SURE it would happen before my birthday (a significant one). It was twelve years since I began the writing process.
And then... life happened. I fell back into work, with difficult situations that had been waiting for my return. When I had time off, finishing the book was not a top priority. And then time passed, and I couldn't remember what still had to be done. I was about ready to give up, except... it crossed my mind that I could still publish the book during this significant year. I just had to finish up before the birthday clock hit again. I took all my work with me on our three week vacation to a quiet cabin in the woods. I figured out where I had left off. And I began the push to really, truly be done.
Somewhere during the past couple of months as I've been in this final push, it dawned on me... it's now been thirteen years since I began this book. Yes, that seems about right.
The book has thirteen chapters. Friday the 13th is important to the main character. Thirteen years? It makes sense.
And now the ebook is truly ready. (The paperback format is still being worked on). It will publish on September 15th. I actually considered waiting until Friday October 13th... but I've waited long enough!
I hope you enjoy it.
